Pastor Clint Poppe, Good Shepherd Lutheran, Lincoln, NE, will be leading a workshop entitled Mission (Im)Possible: Moving from Open to Closed Communion. Below is a description of the workshop.
One of the greatest fears of a confessional Lutheran pastor is taking a call or being placed in a congregation that is entrenched in the practice of “open” Communion. To move a congregation with “open” Communion practice to warmly embrace the theology and practice of closed Communion seems like an impossible task. Pastor Poppe will share how the seemingly impossible is indeed possible.
